Setting Modem 56K V.90

Sebelumnya ada 2 sistem pengembangan sebelum penerapan standard V.90. Pertama adalah dari Kflex 56K yang dikembangkan oleh Rockwell dan X2 dari USRobotic. Kedua sistem ini disatukan menjadi sistem V.90. Setelah sistem V.90 menjadi standard pada ISP, X2 dan KFlex tidak lagi digunakan dan menjadi satu pada sistem V.90. ISP memang masih menyediakan dua sistem antara V.90 plus Kflex atau V.90 plus X2. Lalu bagaimana bila modem yang sekarang dimiliki memang sudah mendukung V.90 dengan standard chip-set dari ESS, Conexant, X2, Lucent dan lainnya. Yang pasti modem memang bekerja dengan 56K, hanya kualitas dari teknologi chip-set sangat berbeda serta koneksi di Indonesia rata-rata hanya mencapai 50.2Kbps.

Sebenarnya pada modem dengan standard K56Flex atau X2 dapat computer dapat dipilih sistem yang akan digunakan. Gunanya adalah merubah setting modem sehingga cocok dengan sistem modem dari ISP. Perintah pada setting string modem yang sederhana dibagi 2 yaitu s32=66 untuk mematikan fungsi KFlex 56 dari standard Rockwell dan mengaktifkan V.90 sepenuhnya. Serta untuk mematikan fungsi X2 menjadi full V.90 dengan setting s32=34

Peletakan perintah ini dapat langsung dimasukan pada : Control Panel -> Modem -> General -> Properties -> Adanced. Masukan "s32=66" atau "s32=34" pada INITIALIZATION STRING modem. Bila tidak mengetahui standard pada modem dapat dicoba dari keduanya, tetapi tidak dimasukan bersamaan pada setting modem. Lihat gambar bagaimana cara memasukan code string untuk modem.

Setting String modem

Apakah cara ini berhasil mempercepat. Pengujian dengan Lucent Modem Internal. Lab kami mengunakan koneksi 50.6Kbps untuk modem dengan 2 perusahaan provider yang berbeda. Tetapi setelah dimasukan dengan code s32=34 modem secara konstan melakukan koneksi 52.000 Bps dengan driver 5.95 untuk Lucent Modem. Setting kedua ini mungkin hanya berlaku pada driver terbaru untuk modem serta jenis modem, Setelah melakukan try & error juga untuk perubahan dengan code S32=36 , 34 dan 66 koneksi menjadi 53.333 bps, tetapi setelah di Upgrade dengan driver 5.92 untuk Lucent, koneksi kembali ke 52.000 bps baik untuk code 36, 34 dan 66. Atau dapat mencoba untuk mematikan Klex untuk Lucent dengan S38=0.

Rockwell Chipset Modems

For Rockwell modems excluding PCI (HCF) modems

Pengujian diatas hanya mengunakan sistem Try and Error. Berhasil atau tidaknya tergantung pada koneksi line dan kualitas modem juga versi driver yang digunakan. Untuk mengetahui cara perubahan pada setting modem lainnya dapat dilihat pada daftar dibawah ini : Referensi string modem dapat dilihat pada list dibawah ini (daftar didapat dari www.56k.com). Pemakaian setting modem dibawah ini menjadi resiko pemakai.
